વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ અયોધ્યામાં 12 વાગેને 44 મિનિટે રામ મંદિરનો પાયો મૂક્યો છે. માત્ર 32 સેકન્ડનું શુભ મુહૂર્ત હતું. આ પહેલાં 31 વર્ષ જૂની 9 શિલાઓનું પૂજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. ચાંદીની ઈંટોની પણ પૂજા કરવામાં આવી હતી.
આ પહેલાં તેમણે હનુમાન ગઢી અને ત્યારપછી રામલલ્લાને સાષ્ટાંગ પ્રણામ કર્યા હતા. તેઓ રામલલ્લાના દર્શન અને હનુમાન ગઢી જનારા પહેલાં વડાપ્રધાન છે. ભૂમિપૂજન પછી મંદિરના ટ્રસ્ટી, ઉત્તર પ્રદેશના મુખ્યમંત્રી સીએમ યોગી આદિત્યનાથ, સંઘ પ્રમુખ મોહન ભાગવતે સંબોધન કર્યું હતું.

મોદીની ભાજપ પાર્ટીએ 10માંથી8 લોકસભા ચૂંટણીમાં અયોધ્યામાં રામ મંદિર બનાવવાનો વાયદો કર્યો હતો અને સૌથી સારી વાત એ છે કે તેનું સૌથી પહેલું આમંત્રણ ઈકબાલ અંસારીને મોકલવામાં આવ્યું છે, જેઓ બાબરી મસ્જિદના પક્ષકાર રહ્યા હતા.
આઝાદી પછી મોદી એક માત્ર એવા વડાપ્રધાન છે, જેઓ આ પદ પર રહીને રામલલ્લાના દરબારમાં હાજર રહેશે. તેમના પહેલા ઈન્દિરા ગાંધી, રાજીવ ગાંધી અને અટલ બિહારી વાજપેયી અને નરેન્દ્ર મોદી પોતે વડાપ્રધાન તરીકે અયોધ્યા પહોંચ્યા હતા પરંતુ રામલલ્લાના દર્શન કરી શક્યા નહતા.
